Defensive pistol shooting as a sport is quite simply the use of practical equipment including full charge service ammunition to solve simulated "real world" self-defensive scenarios. Shooters competing in Defensive Pistol events are required to use practical handguns and holsters that are truly suitable for self-defense use. The Smith & Wesson Shooting Sports Center is host to the IDPA Winter Nationals in late February.IDPA competes at the Smith and Wesson SSC on the second and fourth Thursday of every month at 6pm.
